4th Line Theatre is thrilled to release the recordings of the songs from Beau Dixon’s Bloom: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Fable. Bloom: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Fable had its world premiere at 4th Line Theatre in the summer of 2019. The play followed the lives of two small town best friends from Assumption, Ontario, who share a lifelong love affair with rock ‘n’ roll music. The play was a sold-out hit and one of the most successful shows ever at the theatre.

Managing Artistic Director Kim Blackwell explains the reasoning for recording and releasing the songs, “During the summer of 2019, when we produced the world premiere of Bloom, we had so many people ask to hear more of the music. Now we have fulfilled that request, with this recording of all of the songs from the show.”

As Dixon explains, “The recordings on this album are about a time and place in Canadian rock ‘n’ roll history. The songs also chronicle my own career as a touring musician and songwriter. The making of this album was made possible with the love and support of the cast of BLOOM and the 4th Line Theatre staff and Managing Artistic Director, Kim Blackwell as well as Recording Engineer James McKenty.”
The digital album will showcase the eight original songs from the production which were written by Dixon and David Tough. These songs can be downloaded free of charge on Bandcamp. The theatre has also released a short film “The Making of Bloom: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Fable,” which documents the process of multiple artists recording the album in studios across Canada. The short documentary was created by renowned filmmaker Michael Hurcomb. The documentary is available to view on 4th Line Theatre’s YouTube channel.
The cast recording features several performers who appeared in the original production: Griffin Clark, Justin Hiscox, Mark Hiscox, Jack Nicholsen, Sebastian Sage, Shelley Simester, Owen Stahn, and Kate Suhr as well as Beau Dixon and musicians Steáfán Hannigan, James McKenty and Saskia Tomkins.
